List the stages of change and tell about them
Precontemplation- no intention of exercising within the next 6 months. Education
Contemplation: Not exercising, but considering in the next 6 months
Preparation: Exercise on occasion, planning to start w/in month. Establish clients goals and set up a support network
Action: exercising regulary but for less than 6 months.
Educate on how to deal with potential barriers
Maintenance: exercising longer than 6 months. Can still regress, work to enhance their motivation and show their results
Difference b/w a close ended (directive) and an open ended (non- directive) question
Directive- yes of no.
Non directive: requires more than one word, builds rapport
Encouragement, caring,empathy,concer
instrumental- anything needed to complete activity (sitter, gym fees paid, transportation, equipment)

Define SMART goals
S- specific. Clearly defined in such a way that anyone can understand it.
M- Measurable. A goal that is quantifiable
A- Attainable. the right mix of goals that are challenging but not extreme
R- Realistic- must represent an objective toward which an individual is both willing and able to work.
T- Timely. Specific date of completion
