What are functionalists theories on the nuclear ideal?
in order for society to survive, people must cooperate economically, they must have babies, and these babies must be raised in an emotionally supportive environment so they can learn the norms of the group and become productive adult members of society.

nomadic groups of 100 or fewer people, and they have a gendered division of labour. men would go out and hunt and women would stay back and collect berries and raise the children

During the war, women were encouraged to pick up jobs that men left behind when they went to war. When the war ended and the men returned, women were encouraged to go back into the house via misogynistic advertising
