organic architecture
This style of architecture is rooted in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is referred to as “functional sculpture” coined by Joern Utzon. Often incorporated flowing natural forms.
Cold War
A time period after WWII, between 1950-1991, saw a massive arms buildup, pitting the US and western Europe against the Soviet Union and its eastern satillites. The competition from the Cold War ignited technological advances in space exploration and the arms race.
computer animation
A new form that allows characters to be plotted as a series of points and vectors and made to move with mathematical computation.
traditional animation
Drawn on transparent sheets so that foreground action figures can be separated and moved across an unchanging background.
claymation
A relatively early form of animation, uses clay sculptures that are photographed while being moved in tiny increments.
spectacle
Part of visual culture, it’s considered a kind of public show on a grand scale.
Visual Culture
The totality of images and visual objects produced in industrial and postindustrial nations and the ways that those images are disseminated, received, and used. It’s also considered a field of academic study.
Performance art
A visual art form that incorporates live action and mixed media and is presented before an audience.
Neo-Modernist
Relates to deconstructivist architecture, emphasizing the abstract form.
Bunraku
A form of Japanese puppetry

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is a good example. The design of the outside of the building does not indicate the design of the interior space.
