Chapter 14 Flashcards
Force
Push or pull.
Flow
High to low concentration.
Gas
No definite shape or volume, fills the container.
What is the difference between inversely and directly related?
Inversely means opposite, directly means the same.
Compressibility
The measure of much the volume of matter decreases under pressure.
Are gases easily compressed?
Yes because of the space between particles.
How do gases want to travel?
They want to travel in a straight line until they collide with another particle of the container.
What four variables are usually used to describe gases?
Pressure (P) - Kilograms
Volume (V) - liters
Temperature (T) - Kelvins
Number of Mols (n)
What does an increase in volume equal?
A decrease in pressure.
What does an increase in temperature equal?
An increase in pressure.
What does an increase in mols equal?
An increase in pressure.
Boyle’s Law
P¹ x V¹ = P² x V²
Charles’ Law
T¹ = T²
Gay- Lussac’s Law
T¹ = T²
Combined Gas Law
T¹ = T²
