Chapter 12 Flashcards
List the first 3 principles of biomechanics
- Stability
- Production of Maximum Force
- Production of Maximum Velocity
Explain the Principle of Biomechanics: Stability
The greater the mass, the lower the centre of mass the the base of support. The larger the base of support , and the closer the centre of mass is positioned to the base of support, the more the stability increases
What is centre of mass
The imaginary middle point around which the mass of an object or person is balanced
What is a base of support
The supporting area beneath an object or body, its limit are defined by the point of contact with a supporting surface
Explain the production of maximum force
The production of maximum force requires the use of all possible joint movements that contribute to the tasks objective.
Explain the production of maximum velocity
the production of maximum velocity requires the use of joints in order from biggest to smallest.
