Absence Seizure:
A type of epileptic seizure in which the individual loses consciousness usually for less than half a minute can occur often in children
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)
A fatal illness in which the body’s immune system breaks down. There is no cure.
Acute condition
A serious state of illness or injury, but not permanent
Chronic:
A serious state of illness or injury that is permanent
Asthma:
A respiratory condition characterized b recurrent episodes of wheezing, coughing and difficulty breathing.
Ataxia:
A poor sense of balance and body position and lack of coordination of the voluntary muscles
Athetosis
A type of cerebral palsy characterized by large, irregular, controllable twisting motions.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
A condition in which a child exhibits developmentally inappropriate inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity.
Cerebral Palsy:
Motor impairment caused by brain damage. Acquired during prenatal period or during birth. Not curable or progressive
Complex partial seizure
Where dome one goes through a brief period of inappropriate or purposeless activity. Lasts 2-5 minutes and person has amnesia afterwards
Cystic fibrosis
An inherited disorder that causes a dysfunction of the pancreas and mucus, salivary and sweat glands. No cure available
Diabetes
A chronic disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)
The most common form of muscular dystrophy, a group of long-term diseases that progressively weaken and waste the body’s muscles
Epilepsy
A condition marked by chronic and repeated seizures. Can be controlled through medicine, sometimes temporary other times life long.
Generalized tonic-clonic seizure:
The most severe type of seizure, some one has violent convulsions and loses consciousness and becomes rigid
