CHAPTER 11 Key terms Flashcards
FDA
Angles classification
angles describing the occlusion and malocclusion
Centric Occlusion
the maximal contact between the occluding surfaces of Max. and Man. teeth
Distoclusion
the mesiobuccal cusp of Max. 1st molar occludes the mesial to the Man. mesiobuccal groove on the 1st molar (malocclusion)
Occlusion
Maxillary and mandibular teeth form a full closed position
Functional occlusion
the contact of teeth during chewing and biting movements
Malocclusion
Abnormal relationship with Max. and Man. in centric occlusion
Neutroclusion (Class 1) of Angles classification
mesiobuccal cusp on max. 1st molar occludes with mesiobuccal groove on the Man. 1st molar
Labioversion (Division 1)
incline of teeth to extend facially beyond the normal overlap of the incisal edge of the max. Incisors over the Max. and Man. incisors
Linguoversion
Position of the Maxillary incisors behind the Mandibular Incisors
Point angle
Angle formed by the junction of three surfaces
Mesioclusion
Term used for class 3 malocclusion
Line angle
Junction of two tooth surface walls
CLASS 1
The Mesiobuccal cusps first molar occludes with the mandibular Mesiobuccal groove 1st molar
CLASS 2 (DIVISION 1)
Maxillary anterior incisors protrude facially from the mandibular anterior incisors, with a deep overbite.
CLASS 2 (DIVISION 2)
Maxillary central incisors are upright. Lateral Incisors over-lap the central incisors with a deep overbite
