Chapter 11: Improving Decision Making and Managing AI Flashcards
What are unstructured decisions?
decision maker uses judgment, evaluation and insight in DM. Decision is new, important and not routine. There is no procedure and these decisions are reserved for top management
What are semistructured decisions?
Only a part of the problems has a clear answer and accepted procedure. The remainder uses judgment and insight. REserved for middle management
What are structured decisions?
There are repetitive and routine decisions involving procedures to handle them. These decisions are for operational management
What are the four steps in decision making?
- Identify the problem
- Identify the alternatives
- Choose best option
- Implement
What are the elements of a business intelligence (BI) environment?
- Data from business environment
- Business Intelligence infrastructure
- BI toolset
- Managerial user and methods
- Delivery platform - MIS,Decision & Executive support systems)
- User Interface
What is analytical BI functionality?
This means that the production and parameterized reports, dasbods, ad hoc query/search creation, drill down & forecasts, scenarios and models
what is predictive analysis?
This uses stats, datamining, historical data and assumptions to predict future trends and patterns
What is location analytics?
Gaining business insights from the location where data is gained
What is machine learning?
This begins with very large datasets to find patterns and relationships in data
What is supervised learning?
System is trained through specific examples identified by humans.
What is operational intelligence?
This means monitoring operational decisions
What are geographic information systems?
these systems provide tools to visualize problems benefitting from mapping. Ties location data to a map
What is the balanced scorecard method?
This is an operationalization of the strategic objectives by measuring measurable objectives in financial, business process, customer and learning and growth. Performance measures are called Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Wat is the inference engine?
Strategy to search through knowledge base
What are Expert systems?
These systems capture knowledge of experts and represents this knowledge as sets of rules, converted into a computer code to help users through decision making process.
These rules are called the knowledge base
