Noise and other factors may be present and contribute to loss of information in transmission and/or reception of the message.
Transmit Message

Encode, Transmit Message, Decode
The sequence of steps in an Interactive Communication Model ensuring that the message is delivered and understood.
Encode, Transmit Message, Decode, Acknowledge, Feedback/Response
Upon receipt of a message, the receiver may signal the receipt of the message, but that does not indicate agreement with or comprehension of the message.
Acknowledge
When the received message has been decoded and understood, the receiver encodes thoughts and ideas into a message and then transmits to the original sender.
If the send perceives that this matches the original response, the communication was successful.
