Industry vs Inferiority
Erikson’s fourth stage of psychosocial development, in which children must learn the productive skills their culture requires or else face feelings of inferiority
Emotional Development
**Children become more aware of their own & others feelings and they can better regulate or control their emotions. You must be able to recognize emotional distress in order to feel empathy. The ability to fake liking a gift involves emotional regulation because it is effortful and voluntary
Coregulation
parents and children share power
Internalizing Behaviors
behaviors in which emotional problems are turned inward; for example, anxiety or depression
Family Conflict
**Children need to learn how to handle and solve conflict without damaging relationships
Maternal Employment
**Almost ¾ of mothers with children work full or part time. Most studies are done on how working mothers employment affects children. Many factors are important – whether or not the mother is satisfied with working, why she is working, whether or not her partner is supportive, the age, sex, personality of the children, SES level, etc. About ½ of school age children are is some form of child care outside of school
