what is an overlay
layer of nail enhancement over entire sirface of nail to provide strength, structure and support.
what is a well
shallow depression of tip. serves as point of contact with the nail plate. position stop is where free edge of natural nail meets/stops inside well
what is a full well tip
covers entire apex area, usually covers more than half of nail plate
what is a partial well tip
altered at well line to expose more of natural nail. shorter than full well tip
what is a well-less tip
has no well at all, no position stop. can be attached to natural nail wherever it best fits

save time not having to size, adhere and shape and blend tips.
how to apply nail forms
disposable made of strong paper with a polyester film (mylar) with adhesive back. feel form off paper and roll between thumbs to create and arch to fit natural nail shape. slide nail form on finger to make sure it is snug under free edge and level with natural nail. make sure center of form is lined up with center of form. look at nail from side to make sire it is coming straight from natural nail and not tinted down.
it is perfectly positioned when there is no gap between free edge and nail form. secure by pressing tabs together marked on form

shape before blending well/contact area. once its blended, tip is fragile.
what is the stress area of nails
where natural nail grows beyond finger and becomes free edge. need extra product to support extension becoming highest point (apex) having a strong apex allows base of nail, sidewalls, and tips to be thin but leaves nail strong. apex is oval shaped in center of nail, high point always visible.
what is a C curve
