A

metal file USED IN ONE DIRECTION. placed under the nail , angling point of rasp at the center of nail and remaining portion toward side of free edge- reduces sides of free edge that could cause ingrown. PREVENTATIVE TOOL do not use on existing ingrowns.

30-45 mins. basic does not include leg massage , only a foot massage.

a lot the last 10 mins of pedi to be for disinfecting basin/bowl

what is a series pedi

A

requires more than 1 appt over time to improve condition. ex calluses (recommend weekly callus appts for 4-6 weeks will reduce and be able to be maintained at lower level)

what should you recommend for a client with severe calluses

A

series pedi along with glycolic/lactic acid to apply every other day as well as a lotion containing DMU (dimethyl urea) daily to soften and prevent scaly condition from returning.also suggest a foot paddle.

A

a rhythmic slow slide with the fingers and palm connecting to the client as much as possible

A

foot should be grasped between the thumb and the fingers at the mid-tarsal area
thumb on bottom of foot, fingers wrapped around top of foot

this locks foot into place and a gentle firm grip has a calming effect

A

A

No do not use Sharptools/ implements. a small nick could lead to medical professional help with these clients d/t thin skin, clotting low immune system. Do not nip cuticles for these clients, instead use a curette to remove dead tissue. use a fine grit abrasive on nails

A

do not move joints, muscles or blood flow. do not bend/flex knees or toes.

provide a soothing touch and rhythm. when applying lotion, begin just below the knees and gently smooth lotion toward feet.

A

EPA registered hospital disinfectant that label claims is broad spectrum bactericide, viricidal and fungicide.
many states require u to record date and time each disinfectant procedure was performed in a log.
