Periodization
Division of training into blocks of time periods that focus on building readiness
Periodization definition
Systematic planning of long term short term readiness training and testing in preparation for combat
Microcycles
Detailed daily training across 2-14 days
Goals of microcycle
Alternate between endurance and strength sessions with training and recovery sessions
Mesocycle
Lasts 2-6 weeks
Goals of mesocycle
Establish new levels of physical readiness
Macrocycle
Lasts a year or more

High volume low intensity training

Moderate to high volume training at high intensity
