human interactions are transactions that aim to maximize one’s rewards and minimize one’s costs
Mini-Max strategy
avoiding costs whilst maximizing gain
ex: stock market
Reciprocity
someone gives you help so you help them back
Social responsiblity
we have all been exposed, trained, taught to help
It we attribute need to person’s choice
fairness does not require us to feel inclined to help, it is their own fault
Altruism
help someone from a selfless standpoint
Egoism
help someone to somehow benefit yourself
Genuine Altruism
idea of altruism and egoism working together
Number of bystanders: more people
less likely to help/feel less responsible
