  • gender roles: men as sexual “aggressors” and women as sexually passive
  • double standard: behavior is evaluated differently depending if m or f; gives m more sexual freedom- especially in casual sex, hookups
  • body image issues: gendered difference in body esteem; women who are dissatisfied with their bodies report lover levels of sexual arousal
  • other factors: fear of pregnancy; 10% of sex active teen girls used no contraceptives last time they had sex; women not masturbating; ineffective stimulation of women
