Cerebral Arteries Flashcards
Any supply
Mostly any frontal lobe and corpus callousness
Two anterior Cerebral arteries ( l ACA and R ACA) supplies by
The internal Carotids
Location it ACA
Swoops posteriorly towards parieto-temporal-occipital area
Mohawk
Two middle cerebral arteries (L MCA and r MCA ) supplied by
The internal Carotids
MCA SUPPLY
Fan shaped distribution to most of lateral brain surface, temporal, parietal and post frontal lobe
Put hand on head when thinking
Two posterior cerebral arteries (L PCA AND R PCA) supplied by
The basilar (via the vertebrals)
What does it supply
Occipital lobe, lower temporal lobe
Hair on back of neck
Difficulty with facial processing
PCA
Motor planning and initiation affected
Ant/middle CA
Stroke closer to heart more damage
Diffuse, global distribution
Less damage. If into capillaries
Focal
Concentrated area of impairment
Broca’s is in. Frontal lobe but supplied by
MCA
Capillaries can extend past their area
True
MCA called the
Zone of language, encompass comprehension and expression
PCA area brain map
Temporal-face processing/memory of the inferior medial part if temporal
