Cells Flashcards
Do plant and animals have all the same parts?
No, plant cells have more parts.
What do both plant and animal cells contain and what do they do?
Nucleus - contains genetic material
Cytoplasm - chemical reaction occur (gel-like substance), contains enzymes
Cell membrane - control what goes in and out of the cell, structures the cell
Mitochondria - reactions for respiration, releases energy
Ribosomes - where proteins are made
What 3 extra parts do plant cells have?
Rigid cell wall - structures the cell, made of cellulose
Chloroplasts - where photosynthesis occurs, makes food for the plant, contains chlorophyll (green)
Permanent vacuole - contains cell sap (a weak solution of salts and sugars)
What is yeast and which parts does it have?
Yeast is a single-celled organism, and it contains a nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane and is surrounded by a cell wall.
What is bacteria and which parts does it have?
Bacteria is a single-celled organism, and it contains cytoplasm, cell membrane and is surrounded by a cell wall.
Where is the genetic material in bacteria?
It floats in the cytoplasm as there is no nucleus.
