Both types of cells include a cytoplasm and cell membrane but how is the genetic material stored differently?
E. cell in a nucleus P. cell not in a nucleus
What does the nucleus do?
controls cell activity
what does the cytoplasm do?
a jelly-like substance where all sub-cellular structures are found (?most chemical reaction take place?)
what does the cell membrane do?
controls passing of substances in and out of the cell
what does the mitochondria do?
where most energy is released in respiration
what do ribisomes do?
where plant protein synthesis occurs
What do chloroplasts do?
absorb light energy to make food
What is a vacuole filled with?
It is permanent and filled with sap
Why do plants and algae have cellulose?
To strengthen it
How do you work out magnification?
you do the size of image/ by real size of object
What is binary fission?
The asexual reproduction of a bacterial cell by duplicating itself and dividing into two parts.
how do you prepare an uncontaminated culture?
you sterilise the inoculating loop before use and fix the lid of the petri dish wiht agar jelly in it to prevent unwanted microorganisms from getting in
