Pharmacology
A
Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic which inhibits mucopeptide synthesis in the bacterial cell wall. Ceftriaxone binds to enzymes in the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane causing them to lose activity leading to cell death

How do you prepare the drug
A
IV - Ceftriaxone must be made up to 10ml using 9.5ml of sterile water and administered over 2mins
IM - Ceftriaxone must be made up to 4ml using 3.5ml 1% Lidnocaine and administered in lateral upper thigh

Excreted by the kidneys and bile
