What were the 3 causes to the Second World War?
- Hitler’s aggressive foreign policy and constantly breaking the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
- Appeasement - a policy followed by Britain and France to try and solve problems by negotiation and compromise. The aim was to avoid war.
- The failure of the League of Nations - an organisation set up after the First World War to try and avoid wars

1) As soon as Hitler came to power in 1933 he began to rebuild Germany’s army.

When did Hitlers army march into the Rhineland?
March 1936 - Hitler’s army marched into the Rhineland meaning he could now manufacture planes, tanks and weapons. Nothing was done to stop this.
In April 1938 what did Hitler demanded that Germany be given?
April 1938 - Hitler demanded that Germany be given the Sudetenland area of Czechoslovakia which was technically part of Germany. When Czechoslovakia refused, he threatened to invade.

From September 1938 - the British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, visited Hitler 3 times and made an agreement that Hitler could have the Sudetenland (part of Czechoslovakia), as long as his demands stopped there.
