What were the groups called that German U-boats used to ‘hunt’ in?
The U-boats started to ‘hunt’ in groups, known as wolf packs which made it easier for them to sink ships
How many merchant ships had been sunk by 1945, the end of the Battle Of The Atlantic?
By 1945, 5219 British merchant ships had been sunk but eventually the Allies triumphed
1) From what year did the British start using what system?

1) What was ULTRA?
2) What did this mean for the allies?

2) This meant that the Allies knew where the submarines were.
1) How many tons of ships were sunk in the war by the Germans?
2) How many tons of ships did the Allies build over the same period?
1j Although the Germans sank 22 million tons of Allied shipping during the war.
