Inserted through nostril into stomach

A
- Tube not pulled
- Check tube is taped to clothing/cheek
- Be conscious when moving their position

Drainage types of urine bags?
A
- Leg bag (small)
2. Large bag

Sonographers role with large urinary bag?

- Keep below their bladder level
- Empty if full
- Position tubing over their leg, never under
- Allow slack in tubing
- Be conscious of tubing when changing their position

Steps for bedpans w/patient who can lift hips:

- Gather supplies
- Gloves
- Ask to lift hips
- Soaker pad
- Bed pan under (curved edge under butt)
- Raise head of bed
- Privacy
- Lower bed, remove bed pan
- Cover w/towel and help patient clean up

Patient who cannot lift hips?
A
Same steps but:
Put rail up, roll patient against rail and place soaker/bedpan

A
Roll on side
Wipe front to back (TP first, wet wipe after)
