Q

describe mass flow of the phloem sap

A

-assimilates from sieve tube enter at source and lower water pot. water then enters by osmosis down a water pot grad, this increases hydrostatic pressure.
-assimilates then leave at sink, the water pot increases so water then moves down a water pot grad, this lowers hydrostatic pressure.
-assimilates move from a high to low hydrostatic pressure down a pressure gradient
