Cardiovascular pre practical lecture Flashcards
What are the contents of superior mediastinum?
arch of aorta with three branches (left subclavian, left common carotid and brachiocephalic trunk)
oespohagus
trachea
phrenic nerve
vagus nerves
brachiocephallic vein forming superior vena cava
What is the contents of the anterior mediastinum?
fat, connective tissue
thymus
lymph nodes
branches of internal thoracic vessels
contents of middle mediastinum?
heart and roots of the great vessels
main bronchi
pericardium
phrenic nerves, vagus nerves and sympathetic nerves
contents of the posterior mediastinum?
oesophagus
descending thoracic aorta
azygos hemiazygos veins
thoracic duct
vagus nerves
sympathetic chain
What does left common carotid go to?
head and neck region
What does left subclavian artery be supplying?
left upper limb
What will brachiocephalic trunk divide into?
right common carotid
right subclavian artery
What are the heart’s borders?
right (RA)
left
inferior (RV)
superior
What are the heart’s surfaces?
right
left
anterior
inferior
posterior
where does right coronary artery originate from?
aortic sinus from ascending aorta
where does coronary sinus open into?
right atrium
what are the irregular muscle ridges called?
trabeculae carnae
where does moderator band start and end?
lower part of interventricular septum to base of papilary muscle
What is chordae tendinae attached to?
cusp of tricuspid valve
what does chordae tendinae do?
prevent backflow from ventricle to atria during ventricular systole
what is aortic vestibule?
smooth part of LV
Where will pulmonary veins be opening into?
left atrium
How do you identify aortic valve?
looking at right coronary artery and left coronary artery coming out from aortic sinuses
What are the layers of the heart pericardium?
fibrous pericardium
serous pericardium:
-parietal
-visceral (epicardium)
Where does right coronary artery originate from?
right aortic sinus
Where does left coronary artery originate from?
left aortic sinus from ascending aorta
where do left and right coronary artery travel across?
Coronary sulcus and go to back side and anastamose
What does left coronary artery divide into?
circumflex and left anterior descending artery
What does right coronary artery divide into?
right marginal artery and it goes back at the back and gives off a posterior descending and then anastomose with circumflex
