Cardiac markers and myocardinal infarction Flashcards
What is Cardiovascular disease?
Disease of the heart and blood vessels
Related to the brain, limbs and kidney
What are foam cells?
fat laden macrophages
How many stages are there in cardiovascular disease, specifically atherosclerotic vascular disease?
5 stages
What types of lesions are there?
2 types:
Stenotic
Non stenotic
What does a stenotic lesion lead to ?
Ischemia:
- Angina pectorias
- perfusion defect
What is treatment for ischemia?
PTCA or stent
What is myocardinal infarction?
Acute coronary syndrome
leads to myocardinal necrosis
What are the clinical symptoms of Acute Coronary Syndrome?
- Presisitent angina at rest
- Sweating neusea vomiting
What is ECG?
Carried out before blood tests
Record of heart
QRST
What is ST elevation?
Early after infartion
ST depression?
Hours after infarction
T wave infarction?
1 day after infarction
What is the diagnosis of Myocardinal infarction?
Resistant to nitroglycerine Angina pectorias (stable angina) after 30 mins
4 types of cardiac markers?
Natriuretic peptides (heart failure)
Creatine kinase
Myoglobin
Troponin T and I
Where is Creatine kinase found and in what 3 major forms?
Enzyme found in the heart, Brain, Skeletal muscle CK occurs in 3 major forms CK-->MB (muscle) CK-->BB (brain) CK-->MM (heart and blood vessels)
