what are the 3 causes of left sided obstruction?
- critial aortic stenosis
- critical coarctation of the aorta
- hypoplastic left heart syndrome
what is the immediate management (3) for left sided obstruction?
- PGE-1
- inotropic support to increase contractility
- correction of metabolis acidosis
what should be avoided in left sided obstruction? why?
oxygen
oxygen is a pulmonary vasodilator - want blood to go to the body and not the lungs. it also constricts the PDA
what is the definitive therapy for left sided obstruction?
balloon valvuloplasty or angioplasty
surgical procedure or palliation
what are 3 causes of right sided obstruction?
pulmonary atresia
critical pulmonary stenosis
tricuspid atresia
what is the immediate management for right sided obstruction?
- PGE-1
- possible inotropic support
- correction of metabolic acidosis
reentry SVT can be medically managed by what agent?
adenosine
