Calculations of solutions Flashcards
1
Q
How does dilution occur?
A
When more solvent is added, the solute per unit volume in the solution decreases, in-turn decreasing the concentration of the solute.
2
Q
Concentration:
A
Amount of solute dissolved in solvent, per unit volume. (mol/L or M)
3
Q
Different Units for Concentration:
A
-g/L
- mol/L
- ppm (mg/kg)
4
Q
Grams per Litre calculation:
A
(Mass of Solute) g / (Volume of solution) L
5
Q
PPM Calculation:
A
(Mass of solute) mg / (Mass of solution) Kg
6
Q
Concentration before and after dilution calculation:
A
C1 x V1 = C2 x V2
