BVO Les 11 Diagnostiek - Pols Images Flashcards
- Invasie door externe Wind
- Yin Leegte (Interne conditie)
Felt with a light pressure of the fingers, just resting the fingers on the artery
Oppervlakkige Pols

- Phatogene factor in het Interne (Diep-Overmatig)
- Yang Leegte (Diep-Zwak)
Opposite to a “floating”, it can only be felt with a heavy pressure of the fingers and is felt near the bone
Diepe Pols

- Koudesyndroom
- Koude Leegte (Langzaam-Zwak)
- Koude Exces (langzaam-Overmatig)
Three to Four Beats per respiration cycle of the practitioner
Langzame Pols

- Hittesyndroom
- Hitte Exces (Snel-Overmatig)
- Hitte Leegte (Snel en Oppervlakkig-Leeg)
One that has more than five beats per respiration of the practitioner
Snelle Pols

- Qi Leegte
Feel rather big, but soft, like a ballon filled with water
Lege Pols

- Excessundroom
- Hitte Exces (Overmatig-Snel)
- Kolude Exces (Overmatig-Langzaam)
Big and Strong, pounding hard against the fingers at all 3 depths
Overmatige Pols

Bron: De Grondslagen van de Chinese Geneeskunde blz 385
Surges with the Strength of a big pulse, hitting the fingers at all Three Depths , bit it leaves the fingers with less strength, like a receding
Surging or Flooding

Bron: De Grondslagen van de Chinese Geneeskunde blz 385
Fine thread, but it is very distinct and clear
Thin or Fine and Thready

Extremely fluid, it felt smooth, like a ball bearing covered with viscous fluid
Slippery or Rolling

Opposite of Slippery, uneven, rough, and sometimes irregular in strength and fullness
Choppy (Hesitant, Rough)

Taut feeling, like a guitar or a violin string
Wiry (String-taught)

Strong, rebounds, against pressure at all levels, and hits the fingers evenly, no fluidity or wavelike qualities
Wiry (String-Taught

Strong and seems to bounce from side to side like a taut rope. Vibrating and urgent, it seems faster than actually is
Fuller and more elastic than the Wiry Pulse
Tight (Tense)

Fuller and more stronger than the Wiry Pulse.
Tight (Tense)

Thin and Empty and Floating, is less clear than a thin pulse, and is perceptible only in the Superficial
Soggy (Soft)

Like a bubble floating on water
Soggy (Soft)

Feels like pearls in a porcelain basin, slithers like a snake
Slippery (Rolling)

A knife scraping bamboo or a sick silkworm eating a mulberry leaf
Choopy (Hesitant, Rough)

Feels rough under the finger, instead of a smooth pulse wave, has jagged edge to it
Choppy (Hesitant, Rough)

Feels taught like a guitar strong,
Wiry (string-taut)

Thinner, more taught and harder than the tight pulse, really hits the fingers
Wiry (string-taut)

Disappears when a stronger pressure is applied to feel the deep level
Soggy (Soft)

Soft and Weak and Thin. Felt at the Deep level, like an inverted empty pulse.
Weak (frail)

Cannot be felt on the superficial level, only deep level
Weak (frail)

Rapid and it stops at irregular intervals
Hasty (Abrupt, Hurried)

Slow and it stops at irregular intervals
Knotted (Bound)

Stops at regular Intervals
Intermittent

Basically longer than normal, extends slight beyond the normal pulse position
Long

Opposite of a Long Pulse, occupies a shorter space than the normal position
Short

Extremely Fine and Soft, but like the clarity of the Thin Pulse, Barely perceptible and seems about to dissapear
Minute (faint)

Four beats for each respiration cycle
Moderate (Slow-Down)

Felt at the Superficial level, but if one presses slightly harder to find the middle level it is not there. It is then felt again at the deeper level with a stronger pressure, empty in middle.
Hollow (Scallion)

Floating and Large, with a empty center -Like a scallion stalk
Hollow (Scallion)

Feels hard and tight at the superficial level and stretched like a drum, but it feels complexly empty at the deep level. Large Pulse, not thin
Leather (DrumSkin)

Felt only at the Deep Level and it feels hard and rather wiry. Can be described as wiry pulse at the deep level.
Confined (Prison, Firm)

Feels very small is relatively superficial, Instead of feeling like a wave, the pulse feels as if were broken in small dots
Scattered

Floating, scattered without root, disappearing with pressing
Scattered

Feels as if it were hidden beneath the bone, Very deep and difficult to feel, basically and extreme case of Deep Pulse
Hidden

Extreme form of Sinking Pulse, Intense Pressure must be applied to feel it
Hidden

Found shape like a bean, it is short and it trembles under the finger
Moving (Spinning Bean)

Jumps like a bean, slippery and rapid with force
Moving (Spinning Bean

Very rapid, bit it also feels very agitated and urgent
Hurried, Hasty

Broad in diameter and very distinct, suggests excess
Big (Large)
