Who is screened?
Asymptomatic 50-70 year olds every 3 years
What are the different types of breast cancer?
Can be subdivided into invasive and non-invasive.
Ductual or lobular (these can be invasive or non-invasive/ carcinoma in situ)

How is breast cancer staged?
TNM staging
What is a fibroadenoma?
Most common breast tumour in adolescent and young adult women (peak age= third decade)
May regress without treatment
What does an in situ carcinoma mean?
It is preinvasive and does not form a palpable tumour.
Can only be detected with imaging.
No metastaic spread and risk of invasion depends on grading.
How is breast cancer treated?
Surgery: mastectomy or breast conserving surgery
Radiotheapy
Antihormonal thearpy- e.g. Tamoxifen
Chemothearpy
What antihormonal thearpy can be used to treat breast cancer?
Tamoxifen.
Can be used in oestrogen recptor positive cancers.
