Q

What happens to the brain during a hemorrhagic stroke?

A

A brain bleed causes a lack of oxygen to a section of the brain and the blood causes pressure to build up inside the cranium further damaging the brain - extremely dangerous

Q

What is the difference between a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and an ischemic stroke?

A

TIA: temporary and doesn’t cause damage. Does produce symptoms and can be a precursor to a stroke. Reduction in blood flow to an area of the brain, often causes by plaques in blood vessels

Ischemic stroke: blockage to the brain, oftentimes by a blood clot. Persists and requires treatment. Can cause lifelong impairment and even death

18
Q

TRUE or FALSE: eyes are made of nervous tissue?

A

TRUE: eyes are made of nervous tissue. They form from the mesodermal and ectodermal origins

19
Q

Speech is involved in what sections of the brain?

A

Temporal, parietal, occipital and left hemisphere
