What is blood brain barrier Made of
A
Made of endothelial cells, basal laminate and tight junctions also have astrocyte end feet (provide nutrition to BBB).

Describe BBB damage ?
A
After 4-6 hours of infarction BBB starts breaking down due to ischemia and inflammatory reaction in the region. As a result endothelial cells become leakier, basal laminate and stops restriction of molecules, tight junctions also loosen up -> proteins and water starts to leak through vessels (vasogenic edema) -> swollen brain -> compromising brain function and surrounding brain tissue -> cerebral hernia Timon (due to swelling brain gets pushed in wrong direction, can be very fatal).
