Combined oral contraceptive pill (COC). Contain synthetic oestrogen and synthetic progesterone.
What group does noriday belong to and what hormone does it contain?
Progesterone only pill (POP or minipill). Contains synthetic progesterone.
What hormone does depo provera contain?
A synthetic progesterone called medroxyprogesterone.
What group does the Mirena IUD and the Jadelle implant belong to and what hormone do they contain?
They are long acting reversible contraceptives (LARC). They contain a synthetic progesterone called levonorgestrel.
What do you do if you miss one COC pill?
Take it as soon as you remember, this may mean you take 2 pill in one day. Not additional contraception needed.
What do you do for two or more missed COC pills?
Take one pill as soon as you remember and continue normal pill taking. Apply the 7 day rule.
What do you do if you miss one POP pill?
Take the pill as soon as you remember and apply the 2 day rule.
