Biomechanics Of Running Flashcards
What is the difference of the ground reaction force between rear foot and non-rear foot runners?
Rear foot runners have a steeper and more powerful force whereas non-rear foot runners have a more gradual less powerful force
What is the stance phase in walking?
> 50% of the gait cycle (results in period of double leg stance)
What is the stance phase in running?
<50% of gait cycle (results in a period of double leg float)
Where does deceleration from the float phase happen?
Both vertically and horizontally
Is the upper body trunk rotation and pelvis rotation greater or lesser with running as compared to walking?
Greater
Is the step width greater or lesser with running as compared with walking?
Lesser
What does the hip do during late swing phase in running?
Hip extension
Why are quads and hamstrings more active during running?
In order to brace for impact
Why is the glutes more active during running?
To control the forces
Why is the anterior Tibialis more active during running?
To keep the foot up
