Appearance of seborrheic keratosis
Sharply marginated, pigmented, usually papular
Characteristics of seborrheic keratosis
Appears in 4th decade, “stuck on” appearance, crumbly waxy character, benign unless acute onset
Acrochordons
“Skin tags”; brown, pedunculated fleshy papules; associated with insulin resistance
Cherry angioma
Bright red, dome shaped papule, on trunk, acquired in 4th decade
Dermatofibroma
Benign tumor, firm, hyperpigmented dome shaped papule, no Tx if not growing
Solar lentigines
“Sun spot” from sun damage, not cancerous,
Sebaceous hyperplasia
Sebaceous gland enlargement, yellow-ish, umbilicated
Epidermal inclusion cyst
Mobile dermal nodule, from hair follicles, cyst with degenerating keratinocytes, normally pigmented same as skin, rancid smelling
Milia
Tiny, white, papules, all ages, can be removed with a blade easily
Lipoma
Fat under the skin, found in early adulthood
Seborrheic keratosis associated with activating mutation of which gene?
FGFR-3
Etiology of eruptive seborrheic keratosis
Possible sign of cancer in GI tract, breast, lung; sign of Leser-Trelat
Angiokeratomas
Vascular lesions usually on scrotum or vulva; seen widespread in pts with Fabry’s disease
Retifrom purpura
Net like appearance - vascular occlusion
Treatment for keloids
Surgery, freezing, imiquimod (Tx for warts)
