It is a perplexing multisystem vasculitic disease with multiorgan involvement.
■ Main symptoms are recurrent oral aphthous ulcers, genital ulcers, erythema nodosum, superficial thrombophlebitis, skin pustules, iridocyclitis, and posterior uveitis

These are Punched-out ulcers(3to>10mm) with rolled or overhanging borders and necrotic base, red rim in oral mucosa, vulva, penis, scrotum that are really painful.
Aphthous ulcers
Dermatopathology.
Leukocytoclastic vasculitis with fibrinoid necrosis of blood vessel walls in acute early lesions;
lymphocytic vasculitis in late lesions.
Pathergy test is read after how many hours?
24-48hrs
+ in HLA type?
HLA B5, B51
Treatment for Aphthous ulcers.
Potent topical steroid traimcinolone Intralesional 3-10mg/ml Thalidomide 50-100mg/day in evening po Colchicine 0.6mg 2-3x/day Dapsone 50-100 mg/ day
Systemic tx.
Prednisone with or without azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, azathioprine alone, chlorambucil, and cyclosporine.
