Cause cancer and collects in the lungs
What does Nicotine do?
Affects nervous system
What does carbon monoxide do
Binds to haemoglobin instead of oxygen
Can lead to heart disease

Statins
Drug which reduces blood cholesterol by preventing it forming in blood vessels. Causes the liver to remove more cholesterol.

Antiplatelets
Reduces heart attack risks. Reduces stickiness of blood platelets and hence prevents clotting
Often causes internal bleeding
Beta blockers
Reduces high blood pressure by reducing the effects of adrenaline
Slows heart beat and improves blood flow
Causes dizziness and tiredness
Nitrates
Widens blood vessels by relaxing the walls. Allows blood to flow at lower pressure
Causes headaches and dizziness

Replacing damaged valves to ensure correct blood flow
Using stents to temporarily widen partially blocked arteries
Bypassing blocked coronary arteries by using blood vessels from other areas of the body
