Why does the HCPC exist?
the HCPC exists to protect the public from poor standards of care throughout the UK and promote good practice in the sector
What does the HCPC regulate?
they regulate a wide range of health care professionals including:
- physiotherapists
- occupational therapists
- social workers
- paramedics

What must members of these different professions do?
- members of these different professions must be registered with the HCPC
- professionals must have achieved the relevant qualifications and meet the standards of professional and personal behaviour required by the council
When would a member of the public have the right to compain?
if a member of the public feels that one of the professionals registered with them is not meeting the standards expected, they have the right to complain
What does the HCPC have the power to do?
the HCPC has the powers to investigate any complaints made and take appropriate action to resolve them
What can the HCPC do in cases of serious misconduct?
in cases of serious misconduct the HCPC can take appropriate action such as suspension or removal from the register
