What are language barriers?
if English is not the service user’s first language, or have a visual / hearing impairment and there is no signer available to support communication etc.
What are examples of financial barriers?
such as the cost and difficulty in providing care for children or other dependants while the service user attends a care setting or potentially a loss of wages while attending an appointment
What are examples of scarce resources? (not enough resources)
this could be long waiting times for a particular appointment, restricted opening hours of a service or clinic forcing the client to have to take time off work
What are communication barriers?
service users may feel unable to communicate or may be discriminated against because of stereotypes associated within the community
What is inconvenient location of the service?
- many service users have to rely on public transport
- the cost of transport may be an issue as financial help is not always available (LINKS TO FINANCIAL BARRIER)
- they could live far away from emergency services such as hospitals
