- requiring or RECOMMEDNING IMPROVEMENTS to the providers policy and practice in specific respects, eg to share good practice in the provision of care
- issuing a REQUIREMENT OR WARNING NOTICE, to set out what improvements the care provider must make and by when
- making changes to a care providers REGISTRATION to limit the range of care that they are able to provide
- in extreme cases this may include pursuing a CRIMINAL PROSECUTION, if there is inadequate safeguarding of service users from abuse or improper treatment
