What is the heart
An organ that pumps blood around the body that is made up of two pumps.
What are the walls of the heart almost entirely made up of
muscle
What is the blood vessel that supplies the heart with oxygen
Coronary artery
How does blood enter and exit the heart
The blood enters the right atrium through the vena cava which will transfer blood to the right ventricle
The blood flows away from the right ventricle through the pulmonary artery which travels to the lungs
Blood flows away from the lungs through the pulmonary vein into the left atrium
It then flows into the left ventricle and pumps the blood around the body via the aorta
What causes coronary heart disease
The narrowing of the coronary arteries caused by a build-up of fatty material
How can coronary heart disease be treated
By using stents or, bypass surgery or statins
