Can develop cirrhosis (disease that destroys healthy cells and replaces them with scar tissue)

Can pass across the placenta into the developing baby
Can cause miscarriages and births
babies can develop foetal alcohol syndrome which causes facial deformities, heart and liver problems and learning disabilities
