- Off-ground training: takes place briefly off the ground (jumping and landing) or a while suspended above the ground for longer periods (climbing bar and negotiation of high obstacles)
- Combatives: techniques that deter or defeat opponents using projectiles (weapons), striking, and/or close range (grappling).
