Main Parts of Architectural Drawings
- plot plan
- floor plan
- sections
- foundation plan
- elevation
- Detail
Plan View
Top down view
these include: plot plan, foundation , floor plans, Reflective ceiling plans
Elevation View
- Any veridical surface taken from floor plan
- show finished gridline and finished materials
- Locations for doors and windows
Section View
View slicing plane of building or section of building
Detail drawings
- contain special details of parts of build
- usually drawn big
- common for stairs and cabinets
Revisions
Clean noted changes to plans
- normally outlined in a cloud shape
As-Built Drawings
- Contractor supplies customer with these plans
- shows all electrical and plumbing plans along with any changes made through out the build
Shop Drawings
manufactures make plans for specific parts of build
BCBC requires building by registered Pros if?
bigger then 600m square (6450 ft2)
- more then 3 stories
- care or Detention facilities
- high hazard factories
Building lines
lines formed from exterior of foundation or exterior of framing wall
Gridlines
- have letters in one direction and numbers in the other
- usually located on beams or columns
- do not change from floor to floor and are consistent throughout the build.
Naming Elevation views
Compass directions name each view
ex: south wall is wall thats facing south
Sections
- show architectural and structural information
- when its across entire building its cross sectional
Cross sectional detail notation
Normally a circle with number on top and number on bottom
- Number on top: is the detail number
- Number on bottom: is the page number in plans
