ATP and energy transfer Flashcards

1
Q

ATP and energy transfer (definition)

(3 types of energy)

A

Is the capacity to perform work and can exist in chemical, potential and kinetic forms

Chemical energy

  • Comes from the food we eat

Potential energy

  • Stored in the body/tissues

Kinetic (movement) energy

  • When we contract our muscles

Q

Food we eat is stored as: (3 things)
(all of which…)
(when …)

A
  • Amino acids
  • Triglycerides
  • Glycogen

All of which are ready to be used as fuel for energy production.
When metabolised they are converted in the compound of ATP
