What is Fundamental Attribution Error
Overestimating the influence of personality traits and Underestimating the influence of situational effects on a persons behaviour.
What is “Inattention to Base Rates”
when. psychologist believes that a certain pattern of responses on a test indicates a special diagnosis
What is ‘Regression to the Mean”
A person who obtains a big score on a. test at some point in time is likely to obtain a less extreme score on the next test
What is the “Belief in the Law of Small Numbers” ?
Results from small samples are likely to be more extreme and less accurate than large samples
What is “Inferring causation from correlation”
Thinking that one occurrence of patient characteristics caused the other, with out considering other factors
ex. abuse lead to a personality disorder

Thinking back to an event that wasn’t predictable, and now thinking it was predictable

Only recalling information that supports your beliefs

Overestimating the probability of an event based on similar events we have experienced

making a decision based on easily recalled information

Making decisions efficiently based on our current emotions, rather than accurately

When a person uses an initial starting number or value as a starting point (anchor), and adjusting that judgement until an acceptable value is reached.
