How does Aspirin work?

A

Aspirin works by inhibiting platelet aggregation, reducing thrombin formation

Aspirin also has anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis

What are the contraindications for Aspirin

A
  1. Hypersensitivity
  2. Active bleeding peptic ulcer
  3. Bleeding disorders
  4. Suspected dissecting aortic aneurysm
  5. Chest pain associated with psycho stimulant overdose AND a blood pressure greater than 160
