Arm Muscles. 440 - Flashcards
Cubital fossa boundaries
Superiorly - an imaginary line connecting the medial and lateral epicondyles
Medially- the pronator teres
Laterally- the brachioradialis
Transverse humeral ligament
Passes from the lesser to the greater tubercle of humerus and converts the intertubercular groove into a canal for the tendon of the long head of the biceps
The contents of the cubital fossa
brachial artery
Bicep brachii tendon
Median nerve
Radial nerve, dividing into superficial and deep branches
Cubital fossa roof
Roof- brachial and antebrachial(deep) fascia
reinforced by the bicipitalvaponeurosis, subcutaneous tissue, and skin
Cubital fossa floor
Floor- brachialis and supinator muscles
Biceps brachii (short head) proximal attachment
Tip of coracoid process of scapula
Biceps brachii(long head) proximal attachment
Supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Biceps brachii innervation
Musculocutaneous nerve (c5,c6)
Bicep brachii action
Supinates forearm
Flexes forearm when already supinated
Flexes arm
Brachialis proximal attachment
Distal half of the anterior Surface of the humerus
Brachialis distal attachment
Ulnar tuberosity and coronoid process
Brachialis innervation
Musculocutaneous nerve(c5 c6)
Brachialis action
Flexes forearm in all positions
Coracobrachialis proximal attachment
Tip of the coracoid process of scapula
Coracobrachialis distal attachment
Middle third of medial surface of humerus
Cocacobrachialis innervation
Musculocutaneous nerve (c5,c6,c7)
Coracobrachialis action
Helps flex and adduct arm
Biceps brachii distal attachment
Radial tuberosity
Fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
Triceps brachii (long head) proximal attachment
Infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Triceps brachii (lateral head) proximal attachment
Posterior surface of humerus, superior to radial groove
Triceps brachii (medial head) proximal attachment
Posterior surface of humerus, inferior to radial groove
Triceps brachii distal attachment
Proximal end of olecranon of ulna
Fascia of forearm
Triceps brachii innervation
Radial nerve (c6,c7,c8) will keep your triceps great
Triceps brachii action
Extends forearm
During abduction long head resists dislocation of humerus
Anconeus proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Anconeus distal attachment
Lateral surface of olecranon and superior part of posterior surface of ulna
Anconeus innervation
Radial nerve (c7,c8,t1)
Anconeus action
Assist triceps in extending forearm; stabilizes elbow joint; abducts ulna during pronation
