AR 40-8 and AR 95-2 Flashcards
AR 40-8 purpose
Stipulates the minimum self-imposed temporary restrictions to be placed upon aircrew following exposure to certain physiological conditions in order to ensure optimal physiologic and psychological fitness in aircrew
Who has overall responsibility for temporary flying restrictions due to exogenous factors affecting aircrew efficiency?
The Surgeon General (TSG)
What does the term “aeromedical provider” refer to?
1) flight surgeon
2) aeromedical physician assistant
3) aviationmedicine nurse practitioner
4) aviation medical examiner
What does the aeromedical provider do?
Supervise and coordinate all medical treatment of all aircrew members for reasons of flight safety.
When will aircrew members consult an aeromedical provider?
Anytime a physical or psychological condition is suspected or known to be detrimental to the safe performance of flight duty
When they have participated in activities or received treatment for which flying restrictions may be appropriate
Including exposure to exogenous factors listed in AR 40-8 as well as any treatment or procedure performed by a non-aeromedical provider
Reasons to consult an aeromedical provider
1) ANY medical/denta procedure requiring use of medication after the treatment
2) ANY medical dental procedure requiring the use of any type of general, spinal, epidural, or regional anesthesia or sedation
3)treatment by mental health professionals
4) ANY chiropractic or osteopathic manipulative treatment
5) and treatment given by a homeopath, naturopath, herbalist, etc.
6)ANY emergency room orurgent care visits
DD 2992
Medical recommendation for flying or special operational Duty
Anesthesia
48 hours after general, spinal, or epidural
12 hours after local or regional
Alcohol
12 hours after last drink consumed and until no residual effects remain
Immunizations
12 hours following any immunizations
Chemical warfare agent stimulants
12 hours and no residual systemic effects
Blood or plasma donation
Aircrew will not donate more than twice a year
Blood donation: (20Occs or more) 72 hours
Plasma donation: 24 hours
( bone marrow-must see aeromedical provider)
Ocular medication use
24 hours (or as otherwise specified by aeromedical provided )
AR 95-2 purpose
Prescribes Army policy, responsibilities, and rules for air traffic services, army airfields/heliports, and airspace operations.
NAVAIDS, flight activities, nonmilitary aircraft operations, and other related functions
DAR
Department of the Army Representative
The mission of Army ATC …
Is to provide for the safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of air traffic. This includes aircraft movements on the airport surface and within airspace where control jurisdiction has been delegated.
Who has final authority for applying separation criteria to control air traffic?
The qualified air traffic controller at the control position
Standard shift.
8 continuous hours
Maximum duty day
Will not exceed 10 hours for nonstandard shifts
Standard work week
40 hours
Maximum work week
50 hours is authorized for a period not to exceed 60 days
Rest periods
15 minutes every 4 hours - if traffic permits
An uninterrupted 8 hour rest period required prior to each shift
24 consecutive hours at least once during each 7 day period
Currency requirements: facility chiefs (training supervisors
Required to rotate through all facility positions for a minimum of 24 hours each calendar month
Currency requirements: controllers holding multiple ratings
Rotate through all positions within those facilities for a minimum of 24 hours for each facility each calendar month
Currency requirements:
Facility chiefs/training supervisors holding multiple ratings
Required to rotate through all positions for a total of 16 hours in each facility each calendar month
No more than what percentage of hours may be spent providing direct supervision for currency requirements
No more than 50%
Currency requirements:All other controllers except GCA controllers
Required to rotate through all facility positions for a minimum of 40 hours each calendar month
Factors relevant for required stuffing level calculations
1) days per week facility is open
2) hours of operation per day
3) number of peak and off peak shifts
4) number of control or operating positions per shift
5) day-week-month conversion factors
6) manpower availability factor
EML
Emergency manning level
Represent the minimum number of facility- rated and position-qualified controllers necessary to support the mission for limited periods.
Revalidated every two years on when a change to mission requirements is initiated
If a facility remains at EML at the end of the 60-day period…
Facilities must immediately reduce services or curtail operating hours
Currency period for installation facility controllers is based on…
The previous calendar month
Currency requirements: GCA controllers
Required to complete 10 approaches each currency period, 5 of which may be conducted through simulation and one of which must be an emergency or no-gyro approach
Currency requirements: GCA controllers w/ multiple ratings
Must complete 5 live approaches, one of which must be an emergency or no-gyro
When does aduty day begin
At the first required activity of the day
No less than ________ _________ controllers will be present for duty in a control tower, GCA, AIC, one of which must be _______ ________ and ______ _______
No less than ** two qualified** controllers will be present for duty in a control tower, GCA, AIC, one of which must be ** facility rated** and CIC qualified
Non-PQ trainees may conduct precision or surveillance approaches during IFR conditions under certain circumstances…
1) at discretion of SL
2) direct one-on-one supervision is maintained
3) direct communications override is available at the position of operation
4) weather conditions are acceptable NOT less than a 500 ft ceiling or 1 mile visibility
What must ATC do of a facility, service, or NAVAID is suspected to have been involved in an aircraft accident or incident
ATC must act immediately
If radar service is suspected to have been involved- facility will discontinue radar service until a flight inspection is performed
