What do the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 apply to?
The e-privacy Directive complements the general data protection regime and sets out more specific privacy rights on electronic communications. It appliers to anyone who uses electronic communications.
What is copyright? Can it be transferred?
A copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to copy and distribute a creative work, usually for a limited time. It can be transferred via an assignment.
What is the Freedom of Information Act 2000?
Gives individuals the rights to access information held by public bodies. Public bodies are required to issue information held on individuals within 20 days of request.
Can you tell me about the retention of files and the Limitation Act 1980?
The Limitation Act 1980 states that legal action must be brought within six years of the issue arising. Businesses, then, have a responsibility to keep these documents for at least six years after they expire so they can refer to them if there’s a disagreement.

What are the limitations of primary/secondary data sources?
Primary is expensive and time consuming. Secondary data may not be reliable.
How do you validate information?
Check the accuracy and source of the information and contact the appropriate people.
What is the difference between a deed and a registered title?
Title refers to ownership of the property, meaning that you have the rights to use that property. Deeds are actually the legal documents that transfer title from one person to another.

What are the differences between manual and electronic records?
Manual documents are physical e.g., paper an electronic record is virtual.
What is an index map?
Index maps are a type of finding aid that enables users to find a set of maps covering their regions of interest along with the name or number of the relevant map sheet.
