Antecedent Flashcards
3 ways antecedents can be manipulated to EVOKE DESIRABLE behavior
- SD or Cues that have stimulus control
- Arrange EO such that consequence of desirable BX more reinforcing
- Decrease response effort for desirable bx
Example:
Healthy eating: pack healthy lunches, use lists when shopping for groceries
Present SD or cues that have stimulus control over desired bx
Example:
Healthy eating: cook healthy food using high rated recipes; increases reinforcing value of healthy food
Arrange EO such that consequence of desirable BX more reinforcing
Example :
Healthy eating: get rid of all junk food
Decrease response effort for desirable bx
3 types of antecedents manipulation to DECREASE UNDESIRABLE behavior:
- Remove SD/Cues for undesirable bx
- Arrange AO to decrease value of reinforcer for undesirable bx
- Increase response effort for undesirable bx
Example:
Healthy eating: remove unhealthy food from house
Remove SD/Cues for undesirable bx
Example:
Healthy eating: eat meal before going shopping so full when grocery shopping
Arrange AO to decrease value of reinforcer for undesirable bx
Example:
Healthy eating: get rid of all unhealthy food in home
Increase response effort for undesirable bx
Noncontingent reinforcement implemented based on the different functions of problem behavior :
frequent and free access to preferred types of attention/tangibles/escape
How to decrease aversiveness of demand context/task alteration/curricular revision
- Intersperse preferred or easier tasks
- Provide Sr for correct responding
- Decrease # of demand or duration of demand period
- Use errorless learning/provide help to complete the task
